Red Rock State Park Highlights
While walking through Red Rock State Park, you’re more than likely to see some of the amazing wildlife that calls our region home. Coyotes, mule deer, and javelina are all commonly seen walking through the desert landscapes searching for food and water. Feel free to observe these beautiful creatures while giving them plenty of space. While most of these animals are peaceful, it is important that you refrain from provoking them and respect their habitat.
You can also enjoy bird walks throughout the year in Red Rock State Park. These walks begin in the early morning during all four seasons and provide you with prime viewing opportunities for the hundreds of bird species that call the park home.
Red Rock State Park is rich with over five miles of hiking trails weaving and winding through beautiful landscapes. You can venture from the dry rock formations looming over our town down into the lush greenery of Oak Creek to experience the diverse landscapes of our area. The Coyote Ridge Trail, connected by the Eagle’s Nest Loop and Apache Fire Loop, is one of the best Sedona hiking trails for families to enjoy together.
There are also equestrian and biking trails throughout the park. Lime Kiln Trail, which spans a 15-mile stretch of desert between Sedona and Dead Horse Ranch State Park, is accessible from the park.
You can enjoy a variety of ongoing programs and unique experiences that are fun, exciting, and educational. Whether you want to take a guided nature tour, hike under the moonlight, or go birding, they offer something for everyone here!
