Getting Around Sedona

The best way to explore Sedona is by car. Not just any car though, you need to rent a four-wheel-drive vehicle. Jeep wranglers are fun since you can take the top down. You will need a four-wheel-drive vehicle because a lot of the hiking trails are off the main road – down unpaved, dirt, uneven, and rocky roads.

The easiest way to rent a car is right at the Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport. It is then about 130 miles, and about a 2-hour 20-minute drive. It is one of the most spectacular drives because of all the scenic red rocks. In fact, you might want to allow for about 2 hours and 30 minutes as there are some great spots to stop and get out and take pictures.
